Easter Day
Woke up to a freshly painted bedroom, new draperies, and furniture rearranged; I felt like I was waking up in a new, strange place. We are in the process of redoing our bedroom. Shortly after opening my eyes, my seven year old, Landen, ran into our room excitedly showing us what the Easter Bunny had left him. Of course, on that note, we all had to wake up and run downstairs and see what the bunny left the rest of the siblings. My two eldest were not thrilled about getting up so early. Shortly after showing off what the bunny got for each of them, we cleaned up and prepped for the day.
Naturally, as always, there’s always something that we forgot to pick up at the store, so we made a quick trip to Save Mart for some appetizers that kept us going while we started preparing for our Easter meal. After coming home, we cut up some delicious, soft french bread and spinach dip, made some salami, pepperoncini & cream cheese rolls, and had a drink. I had myself a orange, strawberry lemonade mimosa and Ryan, of course had a beer while he barbecued a Tri-Tip Roast. We also insta-pot’ed some ribs, made mashed potatoes, and asparagus, it was all so yummy!!
While dinner was getting hot and ready to eat, we colored Easter eggs, played with bubbles & chalk, and listed to music. This year, we bought two different Easter coloring kits, the original every year Easter coloring kit, and a homemade foam with dyes coloring kit. I didn’t care for the homemade foam kit, I wish I had bought some shaving cream; the shaving cream method has always worked for us in the past! The homemade foam kit was messy, the foam didn’t really turn foamy and the dyes mixed to the point where it just all turned dark. Thought we’d try something new this year, but we now know for next year to stick to what we are used to.
After coloring our Easter eggs, we went on a Easter egg hunt; as of this year, my three year old, Liam, is beginning to understand how this works. My one year old daughter stopped looking for more eggs after finding her first Easter egg and discovering that there was chocolate inside of it. Landen found the Golden Egg this year and Aaliyah found the Rotten Egg. The golden and rotten egg have money in them.
Even though, this year’s Easter was nothing like our past years when celebrating Easter, it turned out to be a good day. It was a beautiful day to spend outside, the kid’s all loved their Easter baskets, and dinner was delicious. We enjoyed this Easter as any other Easter, just in a different way. I hope that all of you enjoyed your Easter as we did! Hang in there, hopefully this will all be over sooner rather than later!
Try and keep thinking pretty!!
