Halloween, 2020

How was everyone’s Halloween this year? I know that things were a lot different than last year’s Halloween, but we all did what we could with it, and hopefully with happy and fun memories. Was there something that you added to your Halloween traditions? Maybe you’re one that doesn’t really celebrate Halloween at all. Was Trunk-r-Treating available to you and your kiddos, or some other form of getting out there and showing off your cute little costume? I strolled my kids around the neighborhood so they could show off their cuteness!

All my kiddos still got dressed up; this was something I, personally, couldn’t take away from them. My daughter, Emarie, was Sleeping Beauty and I slightly dressed up as Maleficent to stand at her side. My eldest son, Landen, was DJ Marshmallow, my youngest son, Liam, was the newest comic version of Spider Man, and Miss Makaylah was a purger… wamp, wamp! lol. My eldest, Aaliyah, whom is 15 years old, hung out with a couple girlfriends and didn’t feel the urge to dress up; teenagers!!

Something we did differently this year, that I really enjoyed and may keep up for the future Halloween’s, was getting together with close family members, morning of, and carving pumpkins with brunch and mimosas! The kids all had a great time, and of course with mimosas involved, how could us adults not share in with that enjoyment.

Some cute ideas for Halloween with the kiddos.

  • Baking is ALWAYS a fun and easy activity to do with the kids- cookies, cupcakes, rice crispies, & brownies.
  • Carve pumpkins, this one is a no brainer. After carving your pumpkins, you have to bake the pumpkin seeds.
  • Scavenger Hunt, Halloween related.
  • Costume contest within the kids…..scariest, cutest, funniest, most creative.
  • Art & Crafts. Use cheap orange, black, and white felt fabric, a glue gun, googly eyes, little sticks found outside, some cotton for stuffing and a black permanent marker. You can make little felt pumpkins with the orange fabric and sticks for the stem, a little ghost with the white fabric, and bats with the black fabric. You will use the googly eyes, stuffing and marker for all three. You can get really creative and add a twine to the mix and make a Halloween garland.
  • Halloween Bingo
  • Movie night (We have a movie projector and like to watch movies outside at night, but you can most definitely create a cozy movie night indoors without the projector.)
  • Pit fire in the backyard and roast marshmallows for smores.
  • Cutest Halloween Pj’s if you’re deciding to stay in.
  • Game night….All of your favorite game boards. Maybe put several in a hat, you could have each person pick out a game to play, or play only games that pertain to Halloween/spooky themes.

Regardless of what you decided to do, I hope that you were all safe and had fun making memories with your family, and especially your little ones, if you have any!!! As always, Stay Pretty!!!
