This Year’s Easter

With the Covid-19 pandemic among us right now, it makes our day to day super tough on everyone, but I’m hoping that you all are sticking in there and staying strong. With that said, I’m sure that we are all trying to be as cautious as possible and more than likely, not having large family and friend get together’s. Easter is right around the corner and I am sure this makes it that much more tough on families and friends. With this virus taking on the world right now, what are your plans for Easter? what are your thoughts? This can be a touchy subject depending on who you have it with.

I’m going to volunteer myself and share our family plans with all of you’s. For such reasons, we are planning on keeping it to our immediate family; my husband, our five kids, our doggy Mater, and myself! Looking back, I can’t really recollect ever spending the holidays with just our immediate family; when I say, “just” I don’t mean that as a meaningless phrase. As much as I love my extended family, I see this as a healthy thing for my kids, husband and myself. I think this will be a great experience for us. Sharing our Easter meal around our dining-room table and saying grace as we give thanks for all of the wonderful things that we have, (each other). I don’t say that to dismiss the love and enjoyment that I have with our extended family, I love embracing holidays spent with my whole family; these times are the best. I say it because this will be one Easter to go down in family history where we spend it together just the seven of us without cleaning, cooking, and organizing an agenda for more than the seven of us. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to attend church on Easter morning, but aside from that, our family will wake up and prep for our Easter meal and festivities without the stress of prepping for visitors.

Looking at the weather forecast, it’s looking like it’s going to be a some what of a nice day. With that in mind, we plan on hanging out in the backyard and enjoying the nice day together. Easter morning, we will leave out the Easter Bunny baskets and color Easter eggs later in the afternoon. At some point, we’ll hide Easter eggs and enjoy watching the kiddos look for them. Eventually, we will all make it around the dinner table, say our prayers, and enjoy each other.

I will miss the laughs and stories shared between other family members among a mimosa, but that’s just one more thing to look forward to when this is all over. I am trying to have the best outlook on this as possible, and take it day by day. I know and understand everyone has different situations, some harder than others, but speaking for just myself, this Easter, I will enjoy my husband while helping each other in the kitchen, over a glass of wine or mimosa and hanging out with the kids. I am sure that through out the day, we will be checking in with family members through the Alexa Echo and/or face time and sharing our presence that way.

The little things matter!

Try and keep that pretty smile on your face and take this in increments. This will pass, but in the meantime, change it up and make the best of that change!
