Circus Themed Birthday Party
Step right up for the amazing one year old! My baby boy is the big O-N-E! It is crazy how time flies when you’re having fun; what better way to enter your first couple days of being two other than having a Circus. Liam is the Ring Leader when it comes to this household, so having his own little Circus seems very fitting. This fun filled day consisted of face painting, ping pong fish bowl, a balloonist, ring toss, fresh popcorn, can knock down, and so much more. I tried to get pretty creative with this party, well because it’s a Circus and there’s soooo much you can do with the theme, and because it was my babies FIRST Birthday Party.
I’m sorry if I picture overload you with this post, but I felt that the pictures taken on this beautiful day, were the best way to scream out how great this theme is!!! Like I mentioned, we had a ton of games to keep the little ones entertained. I purchased a lot of my items on Amazon. I bought real fish-from Pets Mart, and put them in mini fish bowls as a real fair/circus would do. I bought the fish bowls and ping pong balls through Amazon. I also bought the red and white striped material from Amazon as well; it came in a giant roll and I had cut it as I needed it. Another couple games/activities that we had, that aren’t shown throughout the pictures, were can knock down and we had a little coloring station. Can Knock Down is exactly what it sounds like. I used empty canned goods cans and covered them with cute paper, I stacked them in three rows high, (three on the bottom, two in the middle and one up top) and had the kids take turns throwing a ball at them to knock them down.
I have a family member that owns a giant popcorn maker, so I got lucky with that! I also purchased my popcorn boxes and fresh popcorn kernels and butter through Amazon. I found face painting kits at Michael’s crafts store; the kids loved the face painting station. My best friend knew a balloonist, so again…..LUCKY! We kicked him down some mula and he was great with the kids for a couple of hours making all kinds of animals and funny shaped balloons.
Unfortunately, with his birthday being at the end of March, the weather is always skeptical, it could be a great sunny day, or a rainy day….. or in our case both all in one day. We had to move the party back in forth from outside to inside a couple of times. It was a bit of a pain, but it all worked out!
I have a friend who works in construction, he was more than happy to give me a couple of wooden spindle tables; I painted them an adorable light teal and white, they came out perfect for my party! Now, not everyone has a construction friend, you can easily find these online; sometimes you can get lucky and people are wanting to just get rid of them, or you can shop around and them them on Facebook Market or Craigslist.
I used one of my outdoor umbrellas and covered it with solid red and white plastic table cloths, this also came out perfect!! I used bobby pins to keep it in place, it looked so circus’ee. After pinning the tablecloths down, I ran colored flags around the bottom of it, like shown in the bottom right picture. To accommodate the rest of my circus props, I had my husband build me a ticket booth; the kids had fun pretending to sell tickets to other kids.
We have a table and chair business, so when it comes to awesome quality table and chairs, we have that covered! We also have a number of different colored tablecloths on hand, this vibrant blue with the white worked out perfectly with my cute center pieces. For my center pieces, I wrapped little boxes with my roll of white and red plastic wrap. Laying on top of my boxes, I decorated mason jars and glued cute wooden, circus and number one related, decals to dowels. Surrounding these, I used several plastic zoo animals; I found the plastic zoo animals at the Dollar Store.
Notice how cute my photo booth area came out?!?!?! Can you tell how pleased I am with it? I have a garden arch that I used as a base, I purchased my fans that you see up top at both Target and Hobby Lobby, I also used that red and white roll again for the curtain, I used regular tape to keep it in place.-This roll came in handy for so many different jobs!!! I even have a ton left over. We also used the homemade ticket booth as a photo booth.
Now for my dessert table, the most visited spot throughout the party with the kiddos, was filled with so many delicious and perfectly party accented goodies. I had gumball machines, sugar straws, crackel jack boxes, circus cookies, cupcakes, beautifully, circus themed, decorated cookies, large lollipops, laffi taffi, homemade fresh cookies, cotton candy, circus themed peanut bags, mini mason jars stuffed with gummy peanuts, and jars filled with small lollipops….. Did I miss anything? PROBABLY! I used styrofoam, and wrapped them up for my lollipop base. Throughout the table, I placed circus animals, cute little signs, stickers, and jars, stands and cups that went perfect with the color scheme.
We ordered our cakes from Save Mart; they have yet to let us down. I’m a very particular person, so when I go in to put my order in, as crazy as this is, I will either bring in a picture of a cake I have seen before, or will draw up one and color it. This way, I know there will be no mistakes or guessing when it comes to how I want my cakes to come out. I usually will buy my cake topper and set it once my cake is home. The cakes are always nice and moist and full of yummy tastes!
Well……I think I covered most of everything!! Everyone was super impressed with the outcome of his party; it looked great, the food tasted great, and everyone had a BLAST……… it was just, simply, full of GREATNESS!! If I skipped any details that you see in my photos and have any questions, please feel free to message me or leave a comment; I look forward them 🙂 It was fun as always and I hoe you enjoyed this piece of reading!!!!
