Winter “ONE”derland
My daughter recently turned one years old; crazy, one already! I wanted her first birthday to be as beautiful and magical as possible. They’re are so many cute themes out there; doughnut grow up, unicorns, and mermaid parties are just a couple of the many adorable themes. Emarie, my daughter, was born in January so the whole wintery, warm feeling, beautiful ambiance was already there. With the winter vibes screaming at me, I decided what better than a beautiful, soft looking wonderland birthday party. I was so pleased with the turn out; it was everything I imagined for her.
With Christmas and all of the winter decorations recently packed away, I was able to use a lot of them for her party. Also, SALES!! I did a lot of birthday shopping right after Christmas and purchased quite a few items for a very good price for her party; I can also, now, use them for next years Christmas. My grandma purchased a beautiful tall, thin, lightly frosted, fully flocked Christmas tree for a great price for her party, this was a huge statement piece. The tree wasn’t big enough to think it was my actual Christmas tree left out from Christmas but at the same time, it wasn’t very small either. Prior to her big day, I did a little mini photo shoot of her, myself, for her first birthday pictures. With these pictures, I hung them all over the tree as ornaments for guests to be able to take as a birthday souvenir. Along with the pictures that I made for souvenirs, I also shoved iridescent tinsel in clear glass ornaments and gave those away too.
For the birthday parties that I throw for my kids, I like to use backdrops for at least one of my tables and sometimes a photo shoot area. For this particular theme, behind the dessert table, I used a backdrop that had pretty white birch trees adding that nice winter look. From the top of the backdrop, I strung soft lighted strands that hung and on those strands, I taped pictures of moments throughout her first year. On the dessert table, I put her smash cake, some beautifully decorated cookies, cupcakes and sprinkled snowflakes in between the desserts as a table filler. I ordered her birthday cake from Save -Mart, they make tasty, decent looking cakes for a good price, and if it’s the first birthday cake, they give you a free smash cake. As for my photo backdrop for my guests, I used silver tinsel, hung snow flakes from the ceiling, and hung a mini balloon banner that spelled out, “ONE”.
As you walk into my house, where I placed a lot of her party decorations and tables, I have my stair banister. To dress my banister up, I used a balloon garland!!! Sounds like a lot of work…..that or expensive, huh? The balloon garland itself was actually very easy and quick to MAKE, cheap too!! I ordered a balloon pump and balloon tape from Amazon and purchased my balloons from Hobby Lobby. It was a great addition to the party.
For her center pieces on the tables that the guests sat and ate at were beautiful crystal vases filled with white glittery snowflakes and other pretty vase fillers that I had mostly purchased from Hobby Lobby. I used sequin runners and white table cloths. With the tables, I used white resin chairs; these were beautiful around the tables, I wouldn’t have accomplished the look I was going for if I used the regular folding chairs. In the living-room where some guests just stood around and casually talked, I had pub tables set up. Overall, the party was a success and everything was beautiful!!!
