Happily Ever After Baby Shower

I just had to have an enchanted baby shower for the first celebration in honor of my daughter, Emarie LeeAnn-Lynn McNair. It had to be beautiful, magical, and full of pure bliss. I mean, what would be a better theme for a princess to be?!?! With having her shower towards the end of Fall, I was in luck with it being pumpkin season; I bought several pumpkins and used them as part of my center pieces. The main center pieces used for the few tables that guests sat and ate at were large pumpkins seen as carriages with a unicorn that hauled them. I bought large, hollow Halloween pumpkins and cut the center top of them off, within the hole I created, I placed a vase with a boutique of roses and baby breath. I purchased the pumpkins and unicorns at Target; the pumpkins were found in the seasonal section and the unicorns were were made of paper mache’ found in the arts and crafts section. I spray painted the pumpkins pink and the unicorns white, then prior to them drying, I sprinkled glitter on the unicorn wings and on the bottom half of the pumpkins-what a pretty touch!!! I went to Hobby Lobby for the items I used to create the wheels for my carriages. I purchased wooden circles for the wheels and wooden dowels to attach the wheels to the pumpkin; I shoved the dowels through the bottom of the pumpkin in the front and the back. To hide where the wheels attached to the dowels, I glued crystal round flatback rhinestones and used them as caps.

With my pumpkin carriages as the center of attention, I placed them on round mirrors in the middle of the tables and surrounded them with miniature pumpkins and jewels, as if they were riding through a fairy pumpkin patch. Don’t overload the surrounding carriage decorations, use just enough, you don’t want to take away from your main center piece!! To complete the look I was going for, I used gold sequin overlays for the round dining tables and white chair covers with pink sashes; all of our tables, chairs, and tablecloths are rented out by Party Enhancements. I was so pleased with how it turned out.

I like having backdrops at most of my party functions, it gives guests a fun place to take pictures-for their own keep sake photos and memories and for mine as well! For this particular function, I used rose gold sequin backdrop curtains that I purchased from Amazon. With a few banners that I made and personalized for my daughter, I hung those on the backdrop with some pretty greenery that I bought from Hobby Lobby; the green vines went beautifully with the fairy tale theme.

For all of the final details, those are usually found on the entry and dessert tables. For my party favors, I ordered some plastic mini carriages (efavormart.com), and stuck a lindt chocolate ball inside; I placed these on the entry table with my sign in book, diaper raffle game “don’t say baby” clothes pins. I used my kitchen island as my dessert table; I had a large variety of pink cookies, cupcakes, and cake. It all looked so amazingly appetizing!!

Before I wrap it up, I have to share the diaper changing challenge game with you; it was so fun to watch! So all of my guests lined up and broke off into two lines made up of boys verse girls. We had two baby dolls laying on a table with a NB diaper on it and one by its side, with the two lines starting a couple yards back, one person from each line raced to the babies and changed the baby from the old diaper to the new diaper. We did this until either the boys line or the girls line was eliminated. Once we ran through all of the people on the winning line, we would then break that team up into even numbers and have them run the course until we got down to one winner. This game kept us all laughing and cracking jokes!!! It’s a must baby shower game! Well, I hope this was inspiring in one way or another and that you got some great ideas from it!!! If you’re planning a baby shower of your own for another………or yourself, have fun with it, and as stressful as it is, try and just stop, breath and enjoy- it’s going to turn out beautiful!
