Birthday’s During this Hard Time (Covid-19)

I’m sure that there are a lot of you’s who have had to cancel or postpone some kind of celebration due to the Corona Virus. This has been hard on everyone in so many ways. Unfortunately, it’s super sad for those who had parties planned in advance and had to take a loss on money and time that were put into it. Weddings, graduations, and proms are some of the many bigger themed celebrations that were cancelled across the U.S. Then you have the baptisms, baby and bridal showers, and birthday parties. Fortunately, my family was lucky enough to not have such a big celebration cancelled on us; I am so sorry for those of you who are less fortunate. My heart truly goes out to those of you who had an exciting event to look forward during this time of crisis.

My son just turned three and luckily he doesn’t really know the difference between party and no party yet. I think it was more hard for me to send out the cancellation than it was for anyone else. As mothers, you look forward to seeing them smile and just having fun on their designated day. I had a jumper with a pinata planned, surrounded by friends and family. It all worked out though, Ryan and I made it a point to get him a cake, ice cream, and make a dinner that we know he really likes. It was so cute, we kept emphasizing how it was his birthday and how cool it was that he was THREE YEARS OLD now. As soon as he seen his cake, he got all excited and kept saying, “My birthday is here,” referring to his cake as being the birthday.

My older girls helped with dinner. Aaliyah helped out a lot with making the lasagna and Makaylah baked cupcakes. Although it was just us, we are all greatful to be able to be together and share this moment as a family. Liam had fun, and that was all that mattered. We plan to give him a very late birthday party as soon as this is all over. I am sure that there will be many of you’s celebrating a party further out than was anticipated; at least due to what’s going on in the world today, everyone will be more than understanding.
