When it comes to Spring Cleaning, what are the most important “To-Do” things on your list? With the quarantine taking place, now would be the perfect time to get this taken care of, I’m talking, down and dirty, things you don’t do every Sunday as your weekly cleaning. Not to say that these things should only be done once a year, but this is a great opportunity to check them all off of the list, back to back! I can really dissect a good Spring Cleaning List, but for the most part, most of you’s know how to do your basics- sweep, mop, dishes, etc. This is a list that I have generated for my home. Sometimes it’s easy to forget to do some of these things, a good reminder is always helpful! My list is a more general list for the while house, opposed to being broken down by a room by room list. Put your cleaning gloves on and lets get down and dirty!

Some things that are on my To-Do list are

  • Draperies washed and pressed
  • Clean floor boards
  • Dust behind never to be seen places such as televisions, stereos, cabinets, under couches, desks and dressers.
  • With an extended duster, dust along ceiling seams and corners. Dust ceiling fans and vents.
  • *Change out vent filters.
  • *Change out batteries in smoke detectors & Carbon Monoxide detectors.
  • (If) you have large plants, dust the leaves.
  • Dust light all fixtures.
  • Dust the tops of picture picture and door frames, mirrors, and/or all wall fixtures.
  • Wipe walls down, target areas that more than likely easier to be touched on a regular basis, keep height in mind if you have smaller children or pets.
  • Clean and sanitize all door knobs, cabinet knobs, light switches, & stair case mantels.
  • Clean and sanitize all stove, dish washer, microwave, stove vents, ice maker, garage opener & security systems buttons.
  • *Filter through your pantry, seasoning, & medicine cabinet; check for expired dates.
  • Flip rugs over and vacuum them while upside down and then again once they are placed the correct way.
  • If possible, Shampoo carpets.
  • Disinfect all controllers (remotes, gaming controls, TV & stereo knobs.)
  • Clean in and out of your microwave.
  • Deep clean refrigerator, freezer, stove, & dishwasher. Run a cleaning cycle.
  • Run the cleaning cycle on the washer.
  • Clean out your dryer vents.
  • Wash all bed spreads-comforters, blankets, sheets, and pillow cases. Pillow cases should be washed frequently!!!
  • Dust & wipe down all door seams and crevices.
  • Wipe all door frames, mainly near door knobs.
  • Clean and disinfect toilet handles.
  • Wash trash cans thoroughly.

They’re are a lot of times that we depend on our children to clean their own bedrooms and bathrooms, but as parents, we should be making sure that they are also going above and beyond and dusting and wiping things down for themselves as well. Overall, healthy maintenance in every part of the house, is a healthier home!! Children tend to forget to wipe down bed frames, light switches, night lights, TV remotes, door knobs, closest door handles, toilet handles, laundry basket handles & switch out their bedding. Germs live every where & we should be teaching our children on how to eliminate them the best that we possibly can. During this Do It All Spring Cleaning Fananza, make a check list for your children as well, and then double check their “cleaning” !!! Their definition of cleaning, may not match up to yours.

& remember…. Always stay Pretty, Pretty to the T!
